Type of products I sell:
A selection of gourmet South Australian food, wine and beer, teamed with quality giftware to create memorable gift hampers for corporate and individual clients
Job / day to day tasks:
Being a small family business the hat rack is full – from sweeping the front car park, serving customers, making up gift hampers, ordering stock, keeping on top of emails, social media to paying the accounts – they are all my jobs which makes the day very busy and always interesting!
Where I started:
You get to a certain place in your career and think ‘I want more out of my life’. I bought Send A Gourmet Basket on July 1st 2002 (almost 16 years ago!) and have gradually added and changed things here and there to make it what it is today.
What inspired me to start my business?
Wine – we have so many fabulous SA wineries if I started to list all my favourites you might think I had a bit of a problem! Plus, all of the chocolates I add to our gift hampers are exceptional.
Why did I choose to operate in South Australia?
I love the lifestyle in Adelaide, we have such an amazing selection of food and wine right on our doorstep. I moved my shop to Norwood almost 5 years ago and I can't imagine being anywhere else!
In ten years time I hope to be…
Still doing what I love – making gift hampers! I'd also love the opportunity to take a day off here or there to make an extra long weekend break. I’m lucky to work with my daughter and have my grandchildren at work every day. It might be a little while before the grandchildren are fully trained to take over the business!
